Located on the north side of Davenport Road one block west of Yonge Street, this project creates a transition between the building heights along Bloor Street to the south and the exclusive single family neighbourhoods to the north. A thirty one storey tower is positioned at the south end of the site atop a four storey podium that mimics the scale of the existing townhouses on McMurrich Street. The quiet, tree-lined nature of McMurrich is further enhanced by lining the base of the podium with suites that have direct access to the street. All service driveways are completely hidden from view behind the ground level suites. The geometry of the tower expresses the unusual angle of the street intersection; the lower south facade is parallel to Davenport while the upper tower is at right angles to McMurrich, giving the massing a dramatic profile while providing for generous upper level terraces. Richly coloured metal fins regulate window proportions and provide continuous vertical elements that transition into a horizontal overhanging canopy above the elevator penthouse. On the west side, the building’s materials and proportions respond to the scale of the adjacent building and its outdoor gardens.
